How to Bridge to Base (All Methods)

Intro

If you're new to Base or just want the fastest way to get funds onto the network, this guide has you covered.

We’ll walk through all the latest and easiest bridging methods, from moving native BTC, to transferring assets from Ethereum, to bridging from other chains like Arbitrum or Optimism.

Method 1

Garden Finance is currently the only bridge that lets you bring native Bitcoin onto Base as cbBTC, a wrapped BTC asset on the Base network.

1. Connect Your Wallets

You’ll need two separate wallets:

🔹 Bitcoin wallet (to send BTC):

  • Xverse (recommended)

  • Unisat

🔹 Base wallet (to receive cbBTC):

  • MetaMask

  • Coinbase Wallet

Then:

  1. Go to https://Garden.Finance

  1. Click Connect

  2. Connect your Bitcoin wallet first

  3. Then connect your Base wallet

  4. You should now see the route: BTC → cbBTC (Base)

2. Bridge Your BTC

  1. Enter the amount of BTC you want to bridge

  2. Click Bridge

  3. Approve the BTC transaction in your Bitcoin wallet

  4. Wait for the Bitcoin confirmations (a few minutes)

  5. cbBTC will automatically appear in your Base wallet

    • (You may need to import the token contract manually)

That's it, you’ve successfully moved native BTC onto Base!

Method 2

Superbridge is the official OP Stack L1 → L2 bridge, supporting transfers from Ethereum mainnet to Base.

Supported tokens: ETH, USDC, and more
Supported route: Ethereum → Base

1. Connect Your Wallet

  1. Go to https://www.superbridge.app/base

  2. Connect your wallet (MetaMask recommended)

  3. Make sure your wallet is set to Ethereum Mainnet

2. Bridge Your Tokens

  1. Select your token (e.g., ETH or USDC)

  2. Enter the amount

  3. Click Bridge

  4. Confirm the transaction in MetaMask

  5. Wait ~5 minutes for Base finality

Your tokens will appear in your wallet on Base once the bridge completes.

Method 3

Brid.gg is a bridge aggregator that routes your transfer through the cheapest + fastest path available.

Supports bridging from:
Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and more

1. Connect Your Wallet

  1. Go to https://brid.gg

  1. Connect your wallet

  2. Choose your source network (e.g., Arbitrum)

  3. Choose Base as the destination

2. Start the Bridge

  1. Select your token and enter the amount

  2. Brid.gg will display the recommended route (Across, Synapse, Stargate, etc.)

  3. Click Bridge

  4. Approve the transaction in your wallet

  5. Wait for the transfer to finish (typically 1–3 minutes)

Your tokens will automatically arrive on Base.

Method 4

If you use Coinbase, the easiest way to get funds onto Base is to withdraw directly to the Base network. No third-party bridge needed.

1. Open Coinbase

  1. Log in to your Coinbase account (web or mobile).
  2. Go to your ETH or USDC balance.
  3. Click Send or Withdraw.

2. Select Base as the Network

  1. Paste your Base wallet address (MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet).
  2. Choose Base as the network (not Ethereum, not another chain).
  3. Enter the amount of ETH/USDC you want to send.
  4. Review the fee and confirm the transaction.

Within a short time, your ETH or USDC will arrive directly on Base in your wallet.

Method 5

Across is a fast, low-cost bridge that’s great for moving funds from other Layer 2s (like Arbitrum or Optimism) onto Base.

1. Connect Your Wallet

  1. Go to https://across.to
  2. Connect your wallet (MetaMask or similar).
  3. Select your source network (e.g., Arbitrum, Optimism).
  4. Select Base as the destination network.

2. Bridge Your Tokens

  1. Choose the token you want to bridge (e.g., ETH or USDC).
  2. Enter the amount to bridge.
  3. Review the estimated time and fee.
  4. Click Bridge and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
  5. Wait for the transfer to complete (often under a few minutes).

Your tokens will arrive on Base automatically once the bridge completes.

Other Bridging Options

There are several other bridge protocols that support Base, including:

  • Stargate - Great for stablecoin transfers between major chains.
  • Orbiter Finance - Focused on fast, low-fee L2 → L2 bridging.
  • Native L3 bridges - Some Layer 3s (like Degen Chain) offer their own bridges back to Base.

Before using any bridge, always double-check the URL, start with small test amounts, and be cautious of phishing sites.
